You Can Do It!.. in the Midst of A Thunderstorm
We had our very first You Can Do It! Program with NUS students just yesterday... Truly an unforgettable day because it was the day that Thomson Road got flooded and one of those rare few occasions that Singapore saw a refrigerator floating along the road.
But through the storm, 4 NUS troopers made it to our Trybe Centre in Tampines: Daniel, Arina, Saleha and Angeline, we salute you :)
We had a great time of sharing and getting to know each other, sharing our dreams even as they learnt about leveraging on their behavioral strengths and others'.
Had a blast! Looking forward to more future runs of You Can Do It! with NUS students, minus the thunderstorms! ;p
“Trybe Volunteering is an eye opener to see youths from various secondary schools. It allows me to understand their aspirations from their perspective and their backgrounds. At the same time, it is so meaningful to reaffirm their abilities, give them confidence and hope for their future. It is so gratifying to know that I have touched one life and this life can reach out to many others.”
- Daniel Khong (21), NUS Engineering
“There is more than 1 way to look at things. I have learnt to use our weakness in order to benefit ourselves so we can move on, and that a simple act can move/motivate others in big ways. I have also learnt to adapt to others, instead of blaming them for their short comings.”
- Siti Hajar Arina Kamari (20), NUS Science
“I’ve learnt about the different profiles people display at different times and how we could tap on their strengths as well as interact well with them. This would be beneficial in any social or work settings. I also learnt how to adapt as and when the situation calls for it ... This would be useful to all youths, from all walks of life!”
- Angelina Chiok (21), NUS Business
