Teenagers not getting enough sleep?

[View this post]
Are young Singaporeans not getting enough sleep? Based on the survey conducted out of the 940 Secondary students, 80 percent of them are sleeping less than 8 hours a day while only 2.6 percent of the respondents are sleeping at least the recommended 9 hours a day.

Reason Number 1: With the heavy school load and tight project deadlines, it is no wonder students nowadays have to burn midnight oil just to complete the assignments.

Reason Number 2:
Exam and more exam. Tests and more tests. Students are staying up late to revise for their papers, thus, turning in late.

Reason Number 3:
The power of highly addictive computer games! Some students are so engrossed in their games that they are willing to forsake their sleep time.

Reason Number 4:
Students today are so hooked up with the Internet and Instant Messaging that sometimes, unknowingly, they use the computer till the wee hours.

Reason Number 5:
They are so used to sleeping late that they can’t turn in early!

The above are just some of the many reasons why teenagers are not getting enough sleep.

eric sleeping

Sleep is one of the things that most students can say they do not get enough of. It is a time for us to rest hopefully forget about the stress and worries of school and life. Unfortunately, due to too much work or too much studying to do, often enough, we do not get the amount we need each night to be fully rested the next day.

Sleep is important part of our daily lives. Without it, we would not be able to function well. However, many people, especially youths, do not get enough of it. The results are not positive. With lack of sleep, many things are affected such us our mental, physical, and emotional well-being. All of these things are vital to be a good student because without it, how can you study, do well on an exam or participate in discussions? Without enough sleep our behavior will change making us worse students.

We all need more sleep. So take a rest, exercise or play some sports, plan your study time well and give up those computer games once in a while!

Proud of who YOU are!

Indeed that is the phrase that we often use during the pledge before doing DiSC profile. YES! We must be proud of who we are because we are unique and unique is good, no matter how we pose!

And well, let's vote who is prettier? The R or the J?

R = Raffy Or J = Jovi

Bedok Green SS - Service Learning Workshop

Thank you Bedok Green SS for having us! I personally enjoyed myself during the session as you are all so enthusiastic and have such great attitude towards learning. I had a lot of fun joining a group during the race though I must say, it was really tough to catch up with all of you!! Despite of the scorching sun, you all persisted and encouraged one another to continue and finish the race together! I am so inspired and I believe the team unity will bring all of you to greater heights! I am leaving everyone with these pictures for you to enjoy! Cheers :)

Well, i really have a great time and remember, whatever dream that you have, go for it! I am sure you will come out great not just for yourself but for the nation as well. I believe in you! :)

Canberra Secondary S-L Camp

59 student leaders from Canberra Secondary School engaged in much fun and learning at their Service Learning (S-L) Camp held last weekend.

The highlight of the camp must have been the Community Hunt on the second day when the students strode across the neighbourhood in Choa Chu Kang to carry out different activities among the community. With picture clues in their hands, they enthusiastically hunted down the community centre, sports stadium, polyclinic, etc, and some boys even had to act as though they were pregnant. What an experience to help them feel a hint of the physical and emotional load of a truly pregnant lady!

And the rain did not dampen their spirits at all!

At one of the activities, each group actually had to visit the rubbish collection area - in fact the legal 'home' of some foreign workers. It was hard for the students to fathom their living condition until they saw it for themselves.

Dear Canberra student leaders, through your reflections, many of you had shared about a deeper understanding of the community and a greater desire to serve the community. Know that you truly can make a difference in the people around you. Continue to shine! =)

Enjoy the photos below!
