Steamboat Christmas Party

It's the time of year where we get together to play games, exchanging gifts and sharing highlights of the year. Every year we celebrate Christmas party differently. It is unique to have a steamboat in our party without the turkeys, hams and all the seasons delight, it was an enjoyable evening to sharing hot steam food with my close friends and family. Looking forward to next years party. Merry Christmas to everyone!

Trybe Sports Day! Be there or be square...

Exams are over. So, what exactly am I doing waking up early on a Saturday morning? I found myself asking and the only answer was: it’s Trybe Sports Day. So, I thought, this better be a fine day.

Arriving at the center, familiar faces greeted me with a cheerful “hi!” I saw some new, shy faces too! The day started with the organizers dividing us into groups and asking us to come up with a name, which has our group number in it, and a group cheer. The group names were: One-tan mee, Nick-a-2-wee, we are three and Allen-4. How creative could we get? And I thought: this is turning out to be a good day.

The threat of rain did not hinder the volunteers from having fun. I have to applaud the organizing committee for being so prepared; they actually have wet weather plans! There was a good mixture of physical games like Captain’s Ball and Relay, strategy games like the Tower Building and Last Man Standing and a more brainy game, “Simon Says”… Of course, not excluding what every other sports gathering would have: water bombs! I must say it was a good rinse off after having to deal with broken raw eggs on some of our shirts.

For the volunteers, by the volunteers. That’s what the first Trybe Sports Day was – an enjoyable, fun-filled Saturday. Reflecting on it now, I couldn’t help but feel thankful and blessed to belong in such a community, which offers an opportunity for our leadership and organizational skills to be nurtured and improved. To belong to an organization where one’s voice is heard, ideas are considered and life is valued is one of the rare pleasures that a youth like me, doesn’t always experience. As such, I am thankful. Trybe Sports Day indeed turned out to be not just a fine day but a great day.
