Trybe Day @ Assumption College

Today makes our second trip to Assumption College. Believe it or not, the school actually named this day Trybe Day in honor of the Trybe programs that were being run for all their students in the English Program!

I was really excited and happy to see the guys from class EP5/1 that i was with the last trip around. They actually remembered me and came up to say hi! So touched! *tear*

We conducted the You Can Do It! program the EP 1-3 students and a Young Leaders Program with EP 4 and 5 who had done the You Can Do It! program the last time round. This time, the EP 4 and 5 students got to learn about Servant Leadership through our gigantic Moat Game. With over 100 students in our midst, it took about 2 hours for them to complete it! but they made it, and with great learning take-aways as well :)

"My highlight was to see the whole EP4 and EP5 team complete the Moat game. I was very impressed and actually touched to see Group 4 (which I was facilitating) got the idea and helped the whole team to succeed. On top of that, all in Group 4 except one signed up indicating their interest to be volunteering with Trybe Thailand!" - Christina Victor

" I was just amazed that there were so many kinds of dream jobs the students had! I was so excited because each of the students was so unique and I could observe a lot of dream jobs (e.g president, Scientist, businessman, programmer, udon-seller)" - Mayumi Suzuki, Japanese Trybe volunteer

Trybe Thailand: Episode 2

We are BACK in the land of a thousand SMILES!! On this faithful day, Trybe embarked on our second mass volunteer trip to Thailand with 2 mission fields: Assumption College and InterKids Bilingual School.

I want to make special mention of the fact that...we made it to the airport at 630am! (well most of us did anyways..hehe) There were 23 of us travelling together on the same plane and i must say we're certainly quite an odd bunch with Marc carrying his super professional camera snapping away at all we do. Next time, we'll all wear shades. Someone might come up to us for autographs.

It was really cool to see new volunteers and even the youth volunteers like Keith and Dalston on this trip. When we arrived in Bangkok, we were able to meet with our Thai Trybe Ambassadors that evening for some ice breakers and to run through the program with them. I love our Thai Ambassadors! They are one of the coolest, funniest and most loveable bunch of pp!

“I really enjoyed the planning meeting. It was so encouraging to meet people of different backgrounds who are committed to helping young people!” – Joseph Bonifacio

“Am really looking forward to seeing the boys from Assumption conquer the Moat!” – Mariel Mok

“My highlight of the day: To see sooo many volunteers coming together with one vision. Singapore and Thailand.. Awesome! They are so passionate about what they are about to do. I’m so glad that I’m here with the Trybe Team! Yeah!:)” - Tay Kaiyun

Goodbye Thumbs Up... Hello Trybe.

Welcome to our new brand... welcome to Trybe. It's been 5 years and we've finally come up with a name and symbol that will hopefully inspire you all to spread that positive spirit to the youth everywhere.

Why "Trybe"? Well, we believe we're a global community, spreading a positive culture wherever we go. It's spelt with a 'Y' in the name to symbolize Youth. The name 'Thumbs Up' just wasn't cutting it, and it wasn't enough to explain what it is we really do.

But the new logo mark is something special. It's a circle, which symbolizes a community, with three arrows inside. The bottom two arrows pointing at one another make up a 'T' for Trybe; the left arrow representing Trybe volunteers and the arrow on the right representing youth. The convergence of these two symbols gives an outcome of an upward arrow (the top arrow). The third arrow represents positive and successful living.

We've got a Trybe video to show you all soon, so stay tuned for more sweet news.

Trase, Zero & Pat Thompson graf our wall

The team of street artists Trase (Singapore), Zero (Singapore) & Pat Thompson (Canada) ran freely with their artistry to design the new Trybe office wall. It took about a month+ to conquer, and they did an amazing job. The wall is a representation of the Trybe spirit, where every youth can make success stories of their lives.
