InterKids Bilingual School n my Bday!!
We went to Interkids Bilingual School.. or shall I say Trilingual because the students in this school actually speak English, Chinese and Thai. Woke up bright and early this morning at 630am to head down to the school.. we had to factor in Bangkok Traffic afterall ;p
We conducted the You Can Do It! Program for 101 students as well as the teachers and parents of this school. The students were extremely well behaved and responsive in class. Though the students were bilingual, it's amazing how they all perked up when my Thai co-lead, Khun Edd (pronounced ‘eed’) spoke to them - the power of language and connection! Khun Edd is so sweet! Really glad to have co-led with her today, and not only that, i got to meet her son who was studying in that school too! :)
O yes! it was also my birthday today! hehe. So to celebrate, I went out for dinner at a nice Thai restaurant called Mango Tree with some of the volunteers.. absolutely YUMMY! In fact, later on that nite, we all gathered in Rachel's room for a showdown between the guys and girls via... CHARADES!
the GUYS won.. because they CHEATED. They made up movie names?? "Fluid Motion of the Prima Ballerina??.. Flava Flava and Public Enemy Number One?? The Day I Killed My Wife??"But the girls had a good go at the guys because watching them was HILARIOUS! hehehe
"My highlights: Seeing that our Thai ambassadors and Singapore volunteers working together for a common cause. Some classes look like they have been doing it for some time together" – Marc Mok
"My co-leads Nut and Raat really did a good job facilitating the program in the Thai language. The kids are very comfortable with them and can relate to them really well." – Rafael Panes
"My highlights: To see that Tu can connect with the students so well. It’s really magic! Tu rocks! She just made today’s run for me and Keith possible!" - Tay Kaiyun
