Launch of Trybe Name @ Shangrila Hotel on 7th October 2006

We officially changed our name from Thumbs Up! to Trybe on 7th October 2006 at the Shangri-la Hotel. Having a small yet memorable event was touching. Minister Mah Bow Tan was our guest of honour, which really meant so much to us as he has always been a strong supporter of Trybe.



The whole programme that night was marked by five main points, Thumbs Up! milestone, Trybe name and new mission, Trybe Thailand, Trybe podcast and publications.

Remembering the past and what we have accomplished so far since July 2001 was really powerful to me personally because it revealed what we were able to achieve in just five years.

The climax of the whole event to me, was really marked by Eric V sharing the new name, logo, and mission of Trybe. The reason why this was so moving to me and makes my hair stand every time I think about this, is because, with a new look it indicates where Trybe is headed…a direction which will only grow bigger, better, stronger to one day becoming a name that will impact the world.

In August 2006, Trybe Thailand was officially started. With a short video of Thailand it revealed to the board members and our guest of honours at the dinner what we are able to do in Singapore is also just as powerful in Bangkok. Which really proves to the world that our programme works!!! No matter in Singapore or another country all I can say is, Bring it on!!!!

Trybe Podcast and Publications: Many new projects are currently at work to not only make Trybe better but to be able to capture the youth in any country. The new podcast which will be hosted by Eric V and Joel Mok will open many doors touching on subjects like dating, pornography, family, hatred, etc. Listen to them man…trust me they are going to be great … hee hee hee

Trybe Publications also is another project that will be used as a tool to impart knowledge on how parents and teachers can relate to the youth. As the next generation continues to change with new technology, new fades, and new movements, this book will help to understand the youth of the next generations better. I wrote a chapter in the book so if anyone wants my autograph look for me. Hee hee hee...
