Thoughts from TVC 2010 Committee

Bingrong
"It wasn't my first time being involved in organising an event for Trybe. But it was my first time leading a group of committee where most of them are new to Trybe!! Going through the planning journey with them was partial exciting yet tiring. I remember how interesting the first few meetings with the newly formed committee were. We were all writing down our learning objectives and painting a mind picture of how TVC'10 will look like. It was pretty a difficult and challenging process.

One of the objectives of TVC'10 was to bond the volunteers together through fun activities and time spent together. The other was to equip volunteers who are new to Trybe with some facilitation skills so that they feel more confident when helping out at Trybe sessions. After the brainstorming period, all of us were geared up in coming up with programmes that would suit the participants. Thanks to Mirabel and Basia for constantly looking out for us to refine the program so that the sessions will turn out engaging.

During the camp, I've learnt so much about preparing for last minute situations (such as the power trip) and also managing my team. It was a challenging process yet a fruitful one. I would like to thank my committee for putting so much effort into planning for the camp and I hope that they will become more active in Trybe in future."

"After the long and tedious planning process, I have grown to find out that it isn’t easy at all to plan a camp as such. It is amazing that all the little details have to be taken into such great consideration in order for the camp to be a success. I have learnt the importance of submitting complete work by the official deadline and to have the responsibility to account for what we have done, whether right or wrong. I am looking forward to being a more organised person; one who can prioritise right. Even though I did not attend the camp, I feel like my efforts have been put to good use as the other committee members have done a brilliant job in conducting the camp. Looking at the pictures, I know that the camp was indeed a success and most of the participants have enjoyed themselves! Overall, I had fun and enjoyed being a part of the TVC committee. However, I feel that I can definitely do better if given another opportunity."

"The five months of planning isn’t easy but the friendship built, the experience gained and watching the participants enjoying themselves during the camp made everything worthwhile. Through the planning process, I have learnt that planning a camp isn’t as simple as it seems. It has taught me many things and that every single detail has to be taken into account, be it from logistics, sessions or food. Also, I had my first experience of speaking in front of such a large group of people and although it wasn’t fully great, I was glad I did it. Thank you to all the participants and Trybe staff who came down to the camp! It wouldn’t be a success without you guys."

"In this camp I am appointed in the workshop committee and the logistic commitee. At the beginning i was not confident of my role in the workshop committee, because i cannot express myself well in a crowd but over time as the meetings increased I felt more confident because I wanted to see my hard work being put to good use in the camp. Being in the logistics committee is a new experience for me to prepare stuff and go all the way from the west to Trybe centre to prepare logistics. This camp hasmade me learnt values that cannot be expressed in mere words and i have met many good friends in this camp committee. I would like to thank Bingrong for giving me this opportunity to participate in this camp."

"Trybe TVC '10 is indeed a very fruitful camp for me!

I feel that i've learnt a lot for this camp and this is especially so since it is the first time i am planning for a camp in Trybe. Through the planning process, I get to work with different people in the group and adapt to their working styles. I've also learnt to plan a camp in detail (food, logistics ad transport etc). By executing the programmes, i've also learnt to become more confident. In addition, this is also a platform for me to socialise and get to know more people.
I would like to thank Trybe for giving me the opportunity to plan this camp. Moreover, I would like extend my heartfelt gratitude to Bingrong and Vege for their help and guidance. Not forgetting Vanessa, Vivien, Glenda, Colin, Brenban and Ye Kai. You guys are simply amazing!
Lastly, i'm really happy to see that all the campers have enjoyed the camp. I hope they have learnt somethig new in this camp too! Let us all not forget the friendships we have forged in this camp and do keep in touch with one another!"
